MERAKI COFFEE CO, WOOLACOMBE
A short distance from the sea, this gem is tucked away in South Street by Woolacombe Beach – practically next door to Woolacombe Bay Hotel. Coffee is their speciality and each Barista has the skills and expertise to give coffee lovers the best home-made brew, making this a place worth a (daily) visit.
Not only do they offer freshly baked goods, but breakfast and lunch as well. According to the reviews, their eggs benedict are spectacular. We can also vouch for their yoga – hosted on Thursday mornings and evenings, the Vinyasa Flow (restorative) evening class at Meraki is exceptionally good. ANNIE AND THE FLINT, ILFRACOMBE
Annie And The Flint in nearby Ilfracombe is a lovely, warm and inviting rustic industrial styled cafe. Their ethos really sets them apart – they try to and get all their food from local Devon and Cornwall producers and, where that is not possible, they take great pride in choosing their suppliers – not based on price but based on quality. Everything that goes into the Annie And The Flint’s menus is from high quality, environmentally friendly, suppliers. They serve healthy (and not so healthy) fare – from smoothies, to fruit breads and cookies – peppermint and white chocolate anybody? Yes please!

HEARTBREAK HOTEL COFFEE, BRAUNTON
A quirky outpost that offers high quality coffee and hot chocolate with a smile, this eco-friendly cafe is very popular with locals and visitors – who go back time and time again.
The folks at the heart of this endeavour describes the Heartbreak Hotel Coffee as “a place run by surfers and coffee lovers”. From what we hear, their caramel chocolate brownie is worth going back for! Then there’s ‘Doughnut Fridays’ – yes, they are a thing. Get there early to avoid disappointment. You can pick up a freshly made donut Friday – Sunday.
Where: There are two ways to get your hands on Heartbreak Hotel Coffee: visit their gorgeous little cafe in Braunton, North Devon (pictured above), or their Woolacombe box overlooks the beautiful north devon coast, a 10 minute walk from the hustle and bustle of the main Woolacombe beach.
