Your safety and happiness, plus that of our WBH family, is at the heart of everything we do. In light of the Covid-19 situation, we have adjusted to new ways of working. Our care is more visible than ever and some of our facilities are currently unavailable. We are also taking special steps to manage your arrival and stay. We all have some recovering to do, and we want to ensure that you can enjoy a relaxing respite by the beach - with as little kerfuffle as possible!

With that in mind, please use the buttons below to find the most accurate and up-to-date information to help you plan your stay.

Planning your stay

As soon as you start to descend the steep winding hill towards Woolacombe Bay, and you get your first glimpse of the sea, you’ll spot our grand Victorian hotel; it’s about 200 yards from the beach (get directions).

A four-star family-owned hotel, we’ve been more than 40 years in the making. We say ‘in the making’ because we’ve never stood still. Our passion for the coastal life and love of luxury is what drives us. We’ve created a space that invites you to kick back, relax and be active. This is your break, your way. This information is designed to help you plan your stay; if there’s anything we’ve missed, please contact us.

Stay

Breakfast

All new online bookings are on a room-only basis.

Should you wish to add breakfast to your room, please mention this on booking and a member of our friendly Reservations Team will be happy to advise on breakfast availability during your dates of stay.

For those with breakfast included, this is served in Doyle’s from 7:30 until 10:30am and includes a hearty Devonshire breakfast, plus a choice of lighter options such as pastries, cereals, fruit, tea and coffee. Other cooked options are also available. 

Check-in & Check-out

Your hotel room will be available from 4.00pm on the day of arrival and check-out is by 11.00am on the day of your departure. If you would like to arrive before 4.00pm or depart after 11.00am, you are welcome to leave your luggage at reception and use the facilities. Late check-outs can be arranged subject to availability for a charge.

If you are staying in the self-catering Beach Retreats, your home by the sea will be available from 4.00pm on the day of arrival and check-out is by 9.00am on the day of departure.

Deposits & Cancellations

Your credit or debit card information will be collected when you book, and a non-refundable deposit will be deducted. If you are staying in the hotel, this is £25 per person, per night.

In order to avoid cancellation and/or non-arrival charges, please make any booking changes or cancellations ASAP.

If you cancel your hotel stay with less than 7 days’ notice we will charge the full cost to cover your stay. If you have booked to stay in the self-catering Beach Retreats your deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel your self-catering accommodation less than 7 weeks before your arrival date, full payment will be retained. 

 

Disabled-Friendly Bedrooms

For advice on accessible stays, please call us on 01271 870388. We have eleven lift level bedrooms, 2 of which are more suitable for guests using a wheelchair with a large unobstructed floor area beside the bed. All bedrooms are ensuite. Some bedrooms (not lift level) have walk in showers but the majority have a bath with a shower over the top. Some bathrooms are equipped with grab rails. All bathrooms have 'non slip' floor tiles. Parking

We have a private car park, and can help collect your luggage from your car when you check-in. Please ensure that permits provided on arrival are clearly shown on your car whilst staying with us.

Restaurant Opening Times

Breakfast is served from 7:45-9:45am on weekdays, and until 10:00am on weekends and Bank Holidays. An early breakfast can be arranged from 7:00am (continental only, booking required). You are welcome to join us just for breakfast if you are not staying – £15 per person.

Morning cream tea, coffee and cakes are available in the Bay Brasserie from 10:30am daily.

Lunch is served from midday – 3:00pm in the Bay Brasserie. Packed lunches and picnics can be booked, please enquire for prices.

Afternoon Tea is served daily from midday – 5:00pm (booking essential).

Dinner is served daily from 6:00pm – 9:00pm (booking essential).

24-hour room service is available (a service charge of £4.50 applies).

WIFI

Free WiFi is available at the hotel and performs well in most areas of the hotel. You will need to sign-in (using the password provided) and agree to the terms and conditions of use.

Can I order flowers to be delivered?

Absolutely!

For celebrations, romantic whiskaways, or just to make your suite ultra-special, we can arrange for a beautiful bouquet of blooms to be waiting for you in your bedroom or Beach Retreat apartment on arrival.

Created by florist Jane Fulton, your bespoke bouquet will be individually styled using beautiful yet unusual stems. Whilst flower choices will change with the seasons, elegant styling and understated packaging are a constant delight of Jane's designs. Order online, simply telling us whether you'd like a selection of florist's favourites, or something specific.

Your flowers will be delivered room-ready, either waiting in your bedroom when you check-in, or we can deliver them as a surprise. They will be in a lovely vase, ready for display, and a gift box will be provided so you can take them home at the end of your stay (should you wish to).

Self Catering

What’s included in my stay?

We provide all bedding and bed linen, one bath towel per person, tea towels and a dishcloth. There is onsite parking for one vehicle per Beach Retreat. 

During this time, to uphold track & trace procedures and social distancing measures, the hotel and surrounding grounds are exclusively for hotel guests only.

How does check-in and check-out work?

Your Beach Retreat will be available from 4pm on the day of arrival and check-out is by 9am on the day of departure. A member of our Reception Team will meet you at the hotel gates and show you straight to your accommodation upon arrival. 

Upon departure, please leave your key as you found it inside the accommodation, ready to be sanitised for the next guest. If you choose to check-out early, kindly let our Reception Team know by contacting 01271 870388. 

Are the Beach Retreats star rated?

No, the Beach Retreats have not been rated alongside the hotel. However, they provide comfortable beachside accommodation for couples or families wishing to escape it all or be as active as they wish. Take a look at the gallery to see if our Beach Retreats are perfect for you...

Do I have to pay a deposit?

A deposit of £150 is required to book your Beach Retreat accommodation, with full payment taken 7 weeks before arrival. 

What if I have to cancel?

If you have booked to stay in the self-catering Beach Retreats and decide to cancel, your deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel less than 7 weeks before your arrival date, full payment will be retained. 

Can I bring dogs?

Dogs are welcome to stay with you in any ground floor self-catering Beach Retreats. A charge of £50 per week for up to two dogs applies. Please be sure to pack your dog's favourite bed and bowl.

The Bay Brasserie atrium is a light-filled space where you can relax and enjoy a bit to eat with your pup in tow. We ask that you are mindful of other human guests at all times, keeping your dog on a lead where necessary and being sure to quiet them if they become a bit excitable.

Is there a minimum stay?

There is a 7 night minimum stay for all Beach Retreats. 

What are the changeover days?

For Beach Retreat Apartments and Suites, the changeover day is Saturday. For Beach Retreat Flats, it’s Sunday. 

Can we dine at the hotel?

Definitely! It’s a great way to start your holiday. Our Bay Brasserie is open daily serving great coffee, cakes, cream tea, lunch and dinner. Please call our Bay Brasserie team on 01271 872115 to book your table.

Is there a housekeeping service? What about towels and bed linen?

Our Beach Retreats are cleaned and presented to you to the highest possible standards. Cleaning facilities are available in your accommodation. Bed linen and towels (not beach towels) are also included. A linen change and fresh towels will be provided for all stays of 14 nights. If you are staying less than 14 nights and would like a mid-stay linen change, fresh towels, or housekeeping services please just ask – there will be a small charge for this service.

Are families welcome?

The Beach Retreats offer space for up to 6 people (first floor) and 4 people (ground floor) and have space for cots which can be provided for you. Please call us on 01271 870388 for advice; we’re here to help you find the best family-friendly accommodation for your dynamic.

If requested when booking, a cot and/or high chair can be provided in all Beach Retreats. Cots are supplied including linen.
