Here on the soul-stirring North Devon coast we guarantee a warm welcome, a peaceful atmosphere and the best of the season, miles away from the festive rush. We stay open throughout Christmas and New Year, welcoming guests from near and far, many of whom trust us year after year with their precious family celebrations.
If you want activity and entertainment, there's plenty. If, however, you dream of finding a comfortable corner so you can curl up with a book, we have that too. You might want to blow away the cobwebs and hike the South West Coast Path, in which case we can make your afternoon tea a picnic. Or you may want to attempt nothing more strenuous than a gentle amble to the bar for a festive top-up...this is your Christmas.

Come on in...
23RD DECEMBER
The afternoon is yours to enjoy as you please. Relax into your room or suite. When you're ready, the log fires will be crackling away in the foyer lounges and the scones are in the oven, so they can be served warm with cream tea in Maxine's Lounge at 4pm.
In the evening, dinner is served in Doyle's from 7pm.
Christmas Eve
24TH DECEMBER
Enjoy your breakfast in Doyle's between 8am and 10:30am - a 'light and healthy' and 'hot and hearty' selection is available.
Spend the day getting into the spirit, perhaps wrapping the last of your gifts and savouring precious moments with loved ones. At 7pm we have our famous black tie reception, followed by dinner in Doyle's. After dinner our festive singers will be entertaining us in Maxine's Lounge Bar.
Christmas Day
25TH DECEMBER
After your Bay Breakfast, perhaps a quick surf or a coastal walk will stir your appetite for midday mince pies, served in Maxine's Lounge Bar. Later, gather to watch the Queen's speech at 3pm, followed by our traditional festive feast. And, if you are still peckish in the evening, there will be a light buffet of favourites served.
Boxing Day
26TH DECEMBER
After breakfast, spend time with loved ones - explore our many lounges and you will find games for all the family. A walk along Britain's Best Beach will do wonders to work off an overindulgence! For those who want to take it easy, may we recommend a spa treatment?
Then...you guessed it...more scrumptious treats! Cream tea will be served at 4pm. In the evening, dinner will be served in Doyle's followed by our traditional Boxing Day casino!
Reflective days...
27TH - 30TH DECEMBER
We like to think of the 'days inbetween' as special, not to be overlooked. They are an opportunity to reflect, ponder, plan, and spend time with loved ones. The evenings will be full of entertainment, from our very own magician, live acoustic sets, vintage games and more.
New Year’s Eve
31st december
We host a spectacular drinks reception followed by an extravagant gala dinner. The New Year will be welcomed in with the Piper and a fantastic firework display on our front lawns. For those who are a little peckish there will also be an extra treat in the early hours!
New Year’s Day
1ST JANUARY
Wake up slowly with breakfast served at a slightly later time of 9am until 11am, take your time and say 'hello' to the new year.
Dip in the sea anyone? Maybe not, but it's the perfect time to venture outdoors, seize the day and make a start on some of those fresh resolutions. Perhaps a brisk walk along the beach or the National Trust headlands that surround us? For the very bleary eyed, a hair of the dog a little later may do wonders! Maxine's Lounge Bar is open form 4pm.
After some fine food served in Doyle's from 7pm, it's time to join us for our annual horse racing night!
