Halloween, Bonfire Night & Autumn Events in North Devon

The nights may be drawing in, but there is still plenty to look forward to here in North Devon. For braver fans of the outdoors, it can be a great time to hit the surf or explore the coast. Or for families and those who enjoy more sheltered pursuits, autumn is prime time to catch a wonderful selection of events and entertainment. Here is a quick guide to what’s on in Woolacombe and North Devon in October and November 2016. Live Drama, Music & More at Barnstaple & Ilfracombe Theatres
(Various dates Oct-Dec)

For those with a love of drama, music and the arts, a lively calendar of events at North Devon theatres in Ilfracombe and Barnstaple take us right through autumn and up to Christmas. You could catch anything from comedy with Rich Hall (22 Oct) to an eclectic lunchtime piano concert with Award-winning classical pianist Dona Sevene (2nd November), not to mention various top touring acts from rock to ballet. Haunting Events & Art at Arlington Court 

The National Trust site still has plenty to see and enjoy as we approach the end of 2016. Woollen Woods (until 30th Oct) is a curious collection of handmade creations from across the UK, with crafty surprises galore. Meanwhile, Halloween week should also bring ghoulish fun with hands-on craft sessions for families and a special Spooky Night Walk (28th Oct). Barn-Storming Live Music (Various dates)

Image titleFancy something a little loud and live to warm things up this autumn? Woolacombe’s Red Barn has a wealth of local and touring acts lined up to get toes tapping and Woolacombe rocking, with fresh gigs throughout October and November. The Flamin’ Hotrods (Fri 28th Oct) get Halloween off to a scream with raucous rockabilly sounds, while Kindred (Fri 4th Nov) and FireKind (Fri 18th Nov) get things rocking the following month.See www.redbarnwoolacombe.co.uk for further gigs and event details.

Spooks and Sparks at Ilfracombe (29th October)

For those who can’t quite wait for Bonfire Night in North Devon, this special event combines the fun of Halloween with a terrific fireworks display. Taking place at Ilfracombe Rugby Club (EX34 9QN), you’ll find all the ingredients for an enjoyable, old school family night out, complete with real bonfire, barbeque and entertainment. Or just get a good vantage point early for the ooohs and ahhhhs!

Landmark Beer and Music Festival (28th, 29th & 30th October)

Bringing top local brews and bands galore to the North Devon Coast, this lively Autumn festival is not only great fun but completely free to attend. It all kicks off at The Landmark Pavilion, Ilfracombe (EX34 9BZ) from 7pm on Friday October 28th and continues across the whole weekend. There will also be plenty of stalls, activities for kids and local food to soak up all that delicious craft ale and cider.

Bonfire Night in Woolacombe just wouldn’t be complete without our local finale, held at Woolacombe Meadow. Delivering plenty of big bangs, along with a barbeque, bar and live music, this is a great evening of traditional fun and fireworks. It’s also a great all ages event, with a special £12 family ticket
