Brilliant Breaks in North Devon: Great Reasons to Visit in 2017

As we approach the end of the year and many of us get a well-earned breather, now is a great time to plan some quality time off in 2017. Whether you fancy a healthy, active escape on the coast, or a taste of pure pleasure and relaxation, there are many great reasons to plan short breaks in Devon in the New Year! Not least of all, we have some terrific hotel offers and discounts available. Here are just a few ideas to inspire your next visit to Woolacombe:

North Devon Walking Breaks and Coastal Adventures

We are not only blessed with some of Britain’s most beautiful coastline here in North Devon, but some of the most peaceful. This is especially true in the winter and early spring, when the summer crowds have yet to arrive. But for the avid lover of the outdoors, what could be better than having the Southwest Coast Path all yours to roam?

Walking breaks in North Devon are always popular; but you could also explore some of our scenic routes by bicycle, on horseback, or even try your hand at coasteering or climbing. Should you fancy even more variety, Exmoor is just a short drive away too! Great fun, great exercise and that evening meal and glass of wine at our excellent restaurant and brasserie will taste even better.

Spa and Pampering Breaks in North Devon

Let’s be honest, many of us feel less than 100% after Christmas and New Year excesses. The last thing your body needs is another food and booze marathon. However, there are far healthier ways to treat yourself and get back to your best in the New Year. A good dose of sea air never hurts. Nor does a little indulgence of a different kind.

Now is the perfect time of year to experience some body therapy, whether it’s a soothing massage, beauty treatments or even a sauna or special warming heat treatment from our experts. It’s a wonderful experience to share with a friend, but spa experiences for couples are also popular (and these days we have dedicated men’s spa treatments too).  For the best value of all, our Haven spa gift vouchers make the perfect gifts.

North Devon Surfing Escapes

As well as life’s more laid back pleasures, Woolacombe is also a prime spot for surfing. But for the real fanatics, the best times of year to visit Devon are when the beaches are less busy.  Hence late winter and early spring are both appealing. Furthermore, with hotels offering cheaper prices (over 20% less than peak rates in our case), you needn’t rough it in a tent or camper van. You'll certainly appreciate the use of our gym, indoor pool and other facilities too.

Family Escapes & School Holiday Breaks in Devon

It can be tricky for families to get time away with the kids, especially when you are restricted to the school holidays. But if you cannot wait for the summer, there are some great value offers on family breaks earlier in the year. Ok, so it might not be baking hot; but there is still plenty to do here in Woolacombe, with a whole range of kids’ activities and events at North Devon’s family attractions.

We offer lower rates on family rooms throughout February, March and April, but perhaps the best value of all is to go for one of our self-catering breaks. We have flats and holiday apartments with all you need, just a short walk from the beach! Furthermore, with selected ground floor apartments we can also offer pet-friendly accommodation for breaks with your best friend. See our self-catering section for further details and tariffs for 2017.

2017 Festivals in North Devon

If you are planning on attending one of our acclaimed summer festivals in 2017, it is never a bad idea to plan well ahead. Sure, you could pitch a tent and take whatever the elements (and the folks in the next pitch) throw at you. But many of us reach that stage where you think "actually I would prefer a bit of comfort and a decent night's sleep".

There are several great music festivals and events to earmark for 2017. Just a short distance along the shore at Croyde, Gold Coast Oceanfest is perhaps the biggest of the music and sports events, with top bands and a range of great surfing and skating experts doing their thing. Keep an eye on the official Oceanfest site for the official lineup and ticket details for 2017. Meanwhile, Woolacombe itself plays host to various smaller events and beer festivals, along with one of the UK's biggest and brightest Christian music and sports festivals with Creation Fest 2017.
