Tell us your WBH story…

When I first joined Woolacombe Bay Hotel, I started in housekeeping. During that time, I discovered SALT Gymnasia and, more specifically, the Versa Climber classes. I was instantly hooked! For three years, I attended those classes religiously, pushing myself, improving my fitness, and eventually falling in love with the gym.

Today, I’m thrilled to be on the other side, teaching classes and helping others achieve their fitness goals.

What’s the biggest challenge in your role as Fitness Instructor?

One of the biggest challenges in my role is offering the best possible support and training to each client. It’s about finding ways to keep them motivated, making sure they’re making progress, and helping them look forward to their sessions. My ultimate goal is to ensure they leave feeling energised and happy, ready to take on the world.

What do you love about your role?

There are countless reasons I love fitness. It teaches discipline, focus, and determination. Fitness has a way of helping you set goals and push yourself, and that often spills over into other areas of life. The gym is a place where I feel strong, focused, and ready to improve every day. It’s become a natural part of my routine, and I love every moment of it.

What’s your favourite SALT session? And why?

The Versa Climber! From the very first class, I was hooked. The rush of endorphins, the full-body workout, the low impact on my joints – it’s an incredible cardio machine. It’s helped improve my fitness more than any other exercise, and I love the way it challenges me. Plus, there’s nothing better than climbing to the beat of a good song!

I also enjoy combining cardio and strength training. These exercises promote heart health, muscle strength, and overall balance. My goal with every workout is to challenge myself, sculpt my body, and improve my posture. When I step into the gym, all my worries disappear – it’s my peaceful haven.

Any exciting changes coming to SALT?

Absolutely! We’re excited to introduce our brand-new Winter Cold Water Swim Membership at the Bay Lido. Available through to the end of March, this membership offers an invigorating cold water swim experience, perfect for those looking to challenge themselves in a new way.

Cold water swimming is known to boost circulation, improve mood, and aid muscle recovery – all without the unpredictability of tides. It’s a fantastic way to enhance your fitness routine and embrace the colder months with an energising dip, right here at the hotel.

What are some of your favourite things to do or visit locally?

I love spending time at the beach – it’s the perfect place to relax. I also enjoy walking along the coast, taking in the amazing views. Running on Marine Drive is one of my favourite activities – the energy I get from running along the ocean is incredible. I also enjoy playing volleyball on the beach and having sunset barbecues. It’s hard to beat that combination of fitness and relaxation!

Would you recommend SALT Gymnasia as a place to work?

Absolutely! The atmosphere here is fantastic, the team is friendly, and we have high-quality equipment – especially the Versa Climbers! It’s a wonderful place to work, and I couldn’t recommend it more highly.
