OUT & ABOUT
THE COAST IS CALLING
With miles of soul-stirring coastline and rugged countryside within easy reach, Woolacombe is quite simply one of the most beautiful places to visit in Devon and the whole of the South West. You'll find no shortage of magical places to anytime of year, but come autumn, the crowds vanish – leaving behind a quiet elemental landscape, flushed with seasonal colour, that’s yours for the taking. A soul-stirring tapestry of rolling pastures, surf-perfect waves, wild moorland, and deep wooded valleys.
Autumn's best bits...
There's no doubt about it: autumn is awesome for surfers. In September and October the water is still still warm, the waves are empty and you'll start to see some early winter swells.
We've got storage for your boards, or we can arrange surf/SUP coaching and hire with the Surfing GB qualified coaches at Hunter Surf.
WE;'ve got a great selection of dog-friendly beaches all year round - Putsborough, Rockham Bay and Saunton, for example - but in autumn, patient pups really are rewarded. Our very own Woolacombe Beach loses it's dog-free zones, becoming 100% dog-friendly, as does the stunning Croyde Bay (20 mins' drive).
Lundy has resident seals all year-round, but pups are born between September and November, so autumn is a great time to go. Our friends at Wild Frontier Charters offer a great selection of unforgettable experiences and trips to this wild, craggy seal paradise.
